Operation Instructions For Multiport Control Valve

The multiport control valve has six different positions;
Positions in Clockwise order:

  1. Filter: This position is used during normal filtration.
  2. Waste: This position is used when the filtersystem must be bypassed when draining or vacuuming waste and dirt from the pool direct out the of system to the waste area (ie.drain or garden).
  3. Closed: This position is mainly for maintenance purposes (filter lid to be opened) or when the pump is situated below water level.
  4. Backwash: In this position the flow of the water will be reversed and in that way your filtersand will be cleaned and the dirt send to waste.
  5. Bypass: In this position the water circulates through your sytem without filtration. It should be in this position when pool chemicals are added.
  6. Rinse: This is the position the multiport control valve must be placed in after backwash, This is to ensure that all the dirty water is out the pipes. If this is not done, a charge of dirty water will end up in your pool.

How to "backwash"

This procedure must be followed at least once every week.
Please remember always turn of the motor before turning the handle of the multiport control valve. Always turn the multiport controle valve handle clockwise. Also remove the pipe of your poolcleaner out of the weir before you start with this procedure.

  1. Turn motor off and turn handle to backwash (position # 4)(clockwise).Turn the pump on. Look at the sight glass on the valve, the water in the sight glass will be clear then dirty and then it will become clear again. This takes 2-3 minutes. Turn the pump off.
  2. Turn the handle to rinse (position # 6)(clockwise) This is to remove the dirty water from the pipes, this takes approximately 30-40 seconds. Turn the pump on. Look at your sight glass, it must be clear. Turn the pump off.
  3. If chemicals are added, turn handle of the multiport control valve to bypass (position # 5)(circulate) otherwise turn the handle to filter (position # 1). This is the normal position when in use. Turn the pump on. Relax, enjoy your swimming pool.

AlgiGripTM

Akasia Pools Specialist AlgiGrip

AlgiGrip has been specially formulated to remove and control green and mustard (yellow) algae in swimming pools, and dams with adequate circulation. It must be remembered that no chemical will work effectively if conditions in which they are to be used is unsuitable.
AlgiGrip will work with amazing success at the correct pH and with suitable water circulation. The pH should be controlled at between 7.0 and 7.2 to obtain the best results. It must be remembered that the higher the pH of the poolwater, the more costly the chemicals will be to do the same job at the correct pH, and the more the problems that will be picked up along the way, e.g. at a pH of 7.8, 6 times as much chlorine will be required to give the correct chlorine reserve.
AlgiGrip at a pH of 7.0-7.2 will enable the pool owner to reduce the amount of chlorine required to a half a cup added twice weekly in the summer
AlgiGrip is specially formulated to act as a maintenance product. Regular use protects the pool against algae and maintains a sparkling clean pool. It is to be used with chlorine.

Directions for use:

The pH must be between 7.2—7.4. Total alkalinity in marbelite pools should be 80– 120 ppm. In fiberglass, vinyl and painted  pools between 125-150 ppm . Pour 1 ltr of AlgiGrip
direct into the weir while the multiport control valve is turned to the bypass position. Run for approximately 30 minutes. Reset the multiport control valve to the filter position again.
The performance of AlgiGrip is elevated with the simultaneous use of chlorine reaching 1.0 ppm.

Warnings:

Handle with care. Wash hands with water and soap after use. Poisonous if swallowed. Avoid contact with eyes. This product does not control bacteria. Do not use while swimming. Store away from foodstuff. Destroy container by perforating, Do not use for any other purposes. Never use AlgiGrip
with other pool chemicals. Keep out of reach of children.

First Aid:

Skin contact: Wash with water and soap. If symptoms occur get medical attention.
Contact with eyes: Wash with copious supply of water for 20 minutes. Obtain urgent medical attention.
Ingestion: Drink large amounts of milk or egg whites. If not available drink plenty of water and seek a poison centre or contact a physician. Do not induce vomiting.

AlgiGrip-Guide For Optimum Pool Performance

  1. Adjust pool water to pH 7.0-7.2 (yellow colour on test kit indicator).
  2. Pour AlgiGrip into weir, while the multiport control valve is in the bypass position, so that the AlgiGrip enters the pool through the inflow pipe(s) and not through the filtersand. Water circulation can now be checked.
  3. Correct pool circulation if possible.
  4. To assist rapid removal of algae add 4 cups HTH (for a pool of 40000 ltr.) dispersing in the water into the weir. AlgiGrip and HTH are completely compatible and work together.
  5. Check the pH the following day and correct to 7.0 - 7.2 if necessary with hydrochloric acid.
  6. Never add chlorine granules direct into the pool without dispersing the clorine in water, as the high pH (12) can cause chemical imbalances in the areas where the chlorine deposists on the floor and stains could result.
  7. Control the pH of the pool water at pH 7.0 (yellow) and add AlgiGrip when necessary (every 2 - 3 weeks).
  8. It will be found that when AlgiGrip is used correctly, and the pool water is kept close to pH 7.0, usage of chlorine will be reduced considerably (i.e. half a cup twice weekly in summer).
  9. Remember that the higher the pH of pool water, the more ineffective water treatment products become, and the higher the chemical cost of running the pool will be.
  10. If borehole water is used, it will be found that IronCrash will reduce the possibility of staining pool surfaces.

AlgiHaltTM

Black Algea

Powder algaecides containing mineral salts will not remove black algae. Only O.A.C. products with the correct carbon chain length will remove and penetrate into the spores, thus preventing re-growth. Again, ensure the pH is between 7.0 and 7.2.

AlgiHaltTM

AlgiHalt is one of the most powerful and effective black algae remover on the market.
AlgiHalt contains 500gr/ltr. active compound and, is reasonably safe to use, it does not cause dermatitic reactions should the concentrate get in contact with skin. As AlgiHalt has a strong detergent base the skin will tend to dry out if the concentrate is not removed with water from the hands. Foam is a natural by product of AlgiHalt, but will gradually disappear as the product attaches itself to the pool surfaces. If infestation of black algae is considerable, a second bottle will be required.

Stains

Staining of pool surfaces might be caused by:
a: Mineralsalts in the pool water
b: Mineralsalts in tap and borehole water.
Algaecides lose their stability and become less soluble than normal and in doing so can cause staining in varying degrees.
Most surface stains are caused by excessive mineral deposits that can be removed with IronCrash

IronCrashTM

Remember that the older the stains the deeper it penetrates into the pool surface and the more difficult it will be to remove.
